Ooo your consuming is so big!

2-minute read

Welcome!

I’ll be a dad to three kids any day now, and I’m stressing (in a good way).

And I got feedback from a reader that my last newsletter was a bit long.

Let’s take that feedback (and my scattered OMGTWINSARECOMINGSOON mind) and kill two birds with one stone.

Today’s will be short, a bit sweet, and actionable.

Just the way we like it.

SIDEBAR: Shoutout to all the parents killing it daily.

All right, let’s dive in.

What big consumption you have!

I’ve had a few conversations with wonderful people online recently.

We get to talking. “Hey, I’m Colby. I help solopreneurs double their potential.”

“Hey, I’m Red. I do SEO, marketing, coaching, web design, podcasting, cohorts, teaching gymnastics, and read 50+ books a year.”

Inevitably these people will tell me they’re interested in this. They are interested in that.

They always watch a lot of YouTube and listen to a lot of podcasts.

And then they do it more.

And more.

AND MORE.

Do unto yourself

I’m a consumer, too.

I love to learn.

But more importantly, I’m an applier.

When I learn something that will help my audience or up my skills, I get my hands dirty and start seeing if I can turn that consumption into action.

And that’s the lesson.

Learn + do > Learn and keep learning.

Don’t create your own problems

I know when you consume a lot, you plan on doing stuff.

And you don’t want to choose something too quickly to dedicate your life to, lest you decide it’s not for you down the road.

But nothing jumps out at you unless you’re prepared.

That preparation is action.

I know this because I was this.

I’d always tell people, “I don’t know what it is, but I’m keeping my ears open.”

I sit here today telling you that’s dumb.

I was waiting for something to happen instead of doing something.

I have a newsletter, am just starting my coaching business, and creating a digital framework to help solopreneurs.

That’s it.

I’m interested in podcasts and videos, but it’s not my time. Those are shiny and distractions.

They might not be distractions forever, but they are right now.

The riches are in the niches (blah blah blah)

My past self and people I’ve talked to recently aren’t choosing to take action because they’re afraid they’ll choose the wrong niche.

I see that as looking too far ahead.

Don’t focus on the niche. Focus on who you can serve.

I thought it was executives first.

Then, middle managers.

The rub? They operated in teams. There were too many moving parts.

But I still took action, and after a few weeks of chatting with these people, the world told me that executives and managers in corporate structures weren’t the thing for me.

But I kept doing. Kept iterating. Kept getting feedback.

And before I knew it, I had 4 students. All solopreneurs.

I found the person I serve, because I did something.

I stopped consuming and started doing.

So that’s it. That’s your action.

You have a lot of interests. That’s great. Who’s a person you can serve that fits those?

Then, start talking to them.

YouTube and podcasts aren’t going anywhere.

Thanks for reading. We’ll see ya next week.

Here’s my purpose in life

I’m on a mission to help 10,000 solopreneurs double their potential.

So I’m creating a framework that does that in 90 days.

Sound crazy? I thought so too. Until…

If you’ve been here since the beginning, I can’t thank you enough for supporting me as I’ve found my calling.

But I can say without doubt that this is it.

If you’re a solopreneur that…

  • Feels like you’ve run out of ideas

  • Knows you’re not managing your time well

  • Is second guessing your decision to start the business

  • Wishes it wasn’t taking so much time away from things you love

I’m building the FIRE Framework for you.

In 60-90 days you’ll:

  • Know what your purpose in life is

  • How to leverage your time to grow and have fun doing it

  • Cut distraction and work on the “right” things

  • Be twice (or more) as capable as you believed you could be

It’s 25% done and I’m already seeing amazing results for my students.

My mission is to make this framework one of those things that forces you to say:

How the hell is it so cheap?

-Hopefully you

I’m putting my heart and soul into it to build the most value possible.

If you want to see the beta or get added to the waitlist, reply to this email with “FIRE” and I’ll give you a bit more info.

I'm using systems and resources to improve 1% every day.

I’ve been active on LinkedIn every day since March. In the beginning, I had no clue what to post. Luckily, my pal Steven has created an entire year’s worth of content frameworks. All you have to do is fill ‘em in.
