How I get 10 leads a week w/ 30 minutes a day

3-minute read

I’m not your traditional business builder.

  • I don’t have a CRM.

  • I don’t have a business website.

  • I haven’t made more than $1K in 2 months of work.

And I’m bloody fine with that.

Last week, I spoke about pursuing purpose over paychecks.

This week, we will talk about how to get leads AND not hate your business in 2 years.

*SPOILER: they’re related.

Let’s dive in!

Here are the stats

I use LinkedIn as my main source of leads. But here’s the deal:

  • I’m on LinkedIn 30 minutes a day

  • I get a couple dozen followers a week

  • I’ve never had a post go viral

But I’m booking 10 meetings a week.

How can someone with such a small following achieve that?

Cue the non-conventional method I use.

Chill + goodwill

I’m a dad of 3 now. I’ve got a million responsibilities and a billion ideas.

I can’t execute them all.

But that’s a good thing.

We up our performance when the constraints or pressure is elevated.

It’s called the “Yerkes-Dodson Law.”

"The Yerkes-Dodson Law is a psychological idea that suggests when you have a moderate amount of stress or pressure, you can perform at your best, but if the stress becomes too high or too low, it can hurt your performance."

Translation?

  • Pressure = good

  • Too much pressure = bad

So here’s how you leverage this knowledge.

A 2-part approach

One

I use this law for my own mental state.

I allow the pressure, but I’m hyper-conscious when approaching fatigue, burnout, or anxiety.

Then I take a break.

It could be:

  • A walk

  • Video games

  • 5 minutes extra in the shower

  • Blocking a future time in my calendar to do nothing

The pressure gets me performing, and the consciousness keeps me calm.

Two

I adopt this for how I get people to hop on a meeting.

Chatting with a stranger on a meeting is enough pressure. Forcing an agenda on them is too much.

My mission?

Help them feel calm + open.

I don’t do that by implying I will sell them or dominate the conversation.

So, as often as I can, when I DM people on LinkedIn, I let them know how cool I think they are.

I praise their work, shoot the breeze, send a GIF or quick video.

None of it’s about me. It’s all about them.

When I know they’re calm and comfortable, I make an easy ask.

How it starts

How it ends

  • Praise

  • Vibes

  • A “yes”

That’s it. That’s my framework.

Convention be damned

Here’s a statement I want you to remember when building your business.

You have to like it 2 years from now.

You'll hate it if you chase a dollar and work with anybody.

But if you chase purpose (and ensure you vibe with someone before pitching them), you’ll be amazed at how much you love it.

Is this the slower way?

100%

Is it the more sustainable way?

100%

Conversation moves the needle

You want to build your business? Move the needle.

For me, that’s conversation.

I’m not a master salesman. I’m a master relationship builder.

So, my goal isn’t to get people to say “yes” to a sales call.

My goal is to get them to say “yes” to a vibes call.

You do that, and you’ll get plenty of sales.

And it’ll be a lot more enjoyable.

See ya next week ✌️

The FIRE Framework for Solopreneurs

I’ve just passed the 50% mark of building the FIRE Framework and making it a mission to get it done in the next few weeks.

When it’s done, I’ll have invested over 100 hours of my blood, sweat, and tears into this course.

My goal is to deliver maximum value to solopreneurs to help them:

  • Find their purpose

  • Eliminate items that don’t bring them joy (really)

  • Create a weekly system that helps them hit their goals in record time

  • Compound interest and leverage through relationships + skills

You’ll know how to:

  • Use your business to fill your cup and your wallet

  • Find new opportunities

  • Say “no” to bad apples

It comes in the form of a personalized Notion course and is going on pre-order to my subscribers a few weeks before the rest of the world knows.

If it sounds like something you need, this is my “thanks for the loyalty” price.

$99

When it officially launches in October, this price goes away.

And here’s a sneak peek into the Welcome video.

*I’ll send it directly to your inbox when it’s ready next month.

**Want it for free? I’m accepting 2 more beta testers on the partial build. Send me a reply to this email if you’re interested.
