My universal way of building a solo business
This works for any solopreneur
3-minute read
“I guess people aren’t buying because of the economy.”
I’ve heard this 1000X in the last 10 years.
And it’s total bullshit.
People buy what they want, when they want. And if they’re not, it’s for two reasons:
They don’t see the value.
They feel boxed in.
You see, this level of thinking is a problem…
Trying to figure out why the world isn’t buying from you instead of figuring out how to MAKE the world buy from you.
I will show you how I am building my solo business (and how 100% of my students are doing the same).
Let’s go!
What do people want? Really.
Know that no matter what you’re selling, all buyers want the same thing:
Good health
Good wealth
Time savings
Don’t get it twisted. If your product or service isn’t offering this, it’s gonna be a tough sell.
Your iPhone does this:
Health: Apps
Wealth: Connectivity
Time savings: Instant feedback
Your personal development book does this:
Health: Systems or frameworks
Wealth: Playbook
Time savings: All the steps in one book
Your grocery store does this:
Health: Quality ingredients
Wealth: Affordable options
Time savings: Curbside pickup / online ordering / delivery
See what I mean?
They may seem basic, but this is what people truly want. They don’t want the specifics of what you’re offering. Honestly, they don’t care.
They just want it to improve their health, wealth or have you save them time.
You do that by solving problems
Simply put, you gotta solve a problem. If you’re not solving a problem, you have no business asking for someone’s money.
But how do you know if you’re going about it correctly?
Here’s how I do it. I recommend you steal it.
It’s called The Freedom Lever.
This took me years to work on and months to put into a convenient diagram. And 2 weeks ago, when I was feeding one of my twin daughters at 4 AM, I had a light bulb moment and created this:
Now, I wouldn’t expect you to read my terrible writing. So, I made it look a bit nicer in Canva:
I call it the Freedom Lever because the more you execute the leverage items, the more freedom you’ll obtain.
There’s a lot in here. Here’s a quick video of me explaining it in 94 seconds ☝️.
Let’s summarize
If you want to achieve health, wealth and save time, you need need to do the same for your audience.
The Freedom Lever is my universal system to help you do that.
No matter what your business is, solve a problem in three ways:
Do-It-Yourself: give it away ← Also known as a “lead magnet”
Done-With-You: low investment to audience
Done-For-You: high investment to audience
Then do these every day:
Something for your body: If you’re not healthy, you can’t progress.
Something for your mind: If you’re not challenging yourself, you won’t grow.
Something you create: Unique solutions to common problems sets you apart.
Something to reflect on: You improve when you reflect and refine.
Pull the lever. Earn your freedom.
Now, a heads up. *sorry for being confusing
I’m new to building in public. Sometimes, I jump the gun.
I did that last week by introducing the FIRE Framework and putting a price tag on it. A couple of people even unsubscribed (and I don’t blame them).
I’m not afraid to try stuff out and make mistakes.
But here’s the good news.
Despite building a lot, I still didn’t feel like I had my future 100% dialed in.
But now I do.
How do I know this time? It’s all based on data and conversations.
And if you were crazy perceptive, you might have noticed an update to the branding in my video.
In November, I’m launching Significant Solopreneur. It’s a community for fellow solopreneurs to accelerate their growth, meet other cool people, and work toward freedom. *And yes, the FIRE Framework will be found there.
It’s early stages, so I’ll stop here (must not repeat mistakes, Colby 😉), but if you're a solopreneur looking to speed up and meet cool people, ask me about it.
See ya next week ✌️
Value should be free
Got a mental challenge stunting your solopreneur potential?
Of course, I don’t charge for this. Let’s see if we can help each other first.
